Developed in Burnaby, the Mandarin Language Arts Program offers an enriching and rewarding opportunity for students to celebrate and appreciate an additional language and culture.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An option for children entering Kindergarten or Grade one<\/li>\n<li>The program goes up to Grade 7<\/li>\n<li>It is offered at Forest Grove Elementary School<\/li>\n<li>Students\u00a0study the regular core curriculum in English as prescribed by the Ministry of Education<\/li>\n<li>A component of the Language Arts curriculum will be delivered in Mandarin<\/li>\n<li>The program is designed for students who have strong English language skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"double-border alignnone wp-image-1326 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/burnabyschools.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/mandarin2.jpg\" alt=\"mandarin2\" width=\"500\" height=\"314\" srcset=\"https:\/\/burnabyschools.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/mandarin2.jpg 500w, https:\/\/burnabyschools.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/mandarin2-300x188.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"padding-bottom: 10px;\">The program will develop<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Mandarin oral communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Reading and writing skills (Chinese simplified language)<\/li>\n<li>An understanding of and appreciation for Mandarin Chinese culture<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"padding-bottom: 10px;\">Application information<\/h3>\n<p>Students new to Burnaby Schools will first need to complete the Online Preliminary Registration for your child\u2019s catchment school.
